The Stall Force Reality Index
Massage guns are marketed on amplitude (stroke length in mm) and RPM — but the spec that decides whether a device holds up under real pressure is stall force, the resistance in pounds at which the motor stops. Many brands don't publish it at all. This table normalizes amplitude, RPM, stall force (or an honest "not disclosed"), battery life, and weight across 16 popular models, with a source and source_class for every figure.

The one thing to know: Amplitude and RPM are the two specs every massage-gun listing leads with, but neither one tells you what happens when you actually press the device into muscle. Stall force — the amount of resistance, in pounds, at which the motor stops moving the arm — is the spec that answers that question, and it is the one manufacturers are least consistent about disclosing. A gun with a long, impressive-sounding amplitude can still stall out under firm real-world pressure if its motor is underpowered, while a shorter-stroke gun with a strong motor can hold its stroke length under load. Read the amplitude and RPM as marketing headlines; read stall force, when it is disclosed and verifiable, as the closer proxy for real-world firmness.

Methodology & versioning
Version 1.0 — published July 30, 2026. Every row is drawn from a manufacturer's own product page or spec sheet where available, or a third-party review that independently measured the device (typically by pressing the running unit into a load cell or scale until the motor stalls); the source_class column marks which kind of evidence backs each stall-force figure. Where neither a manufacturer nor a third-party source disclosed a spec, the cell reads "Not disclosed" rather than an estimate. We do not test devices ourselves for this dataset. Corrections: if a figure changes or we find an error, this page and both CSVs are updated in place and the version/date bumped — see How We Evaluate.

A device can have a long advertised amplitude and still lose most of its stroke length the moment you press it firmly into muscle if the motor is underpowered relative to that stroke length.
Because that's what we found. Several widely sold models simply do not publish a stall-force figure, an RPM range, a weight, or a battery-life figure on any manufacturer page we could locate. Non-disclosure is common in this category and is itself one of this dataset's findings, not a gap we filled in with an estimate.
A manufacturer spec sheet figure is a claim the brand itself published — useful, but not independently verified. A third-party published measurement (for example, a reviewer pressing the running device into a load cell or scale until it stalls) is an independent test result. Neither is force-labeled as more or less accurate here; the column exists so you can weigh them appropriately yourself.
